The Future of Migration Project

European perspectives – in a complex world

Today, migration is at the centre of a clash that is not just cultural. It is about nothing other than the future of the European Union and its values, the stability of political systems and democracies as well as our economic survival. Our path away from the nation state will not be linear.

In addition to seemingly objective figures, we also need to take a look at the underlying discourses, breaking down hardened

narratives by listening, understanding and building bridges: first through interviews with which we describe the realities of the countries beyond narrow and one-sided perspectives and then through reflection and dialogue processes whose focus is to be defined between national and regional actors.

We strive for a balanced future within and with the European Union. Bridges are needed, urgently.

OUR ACTIVITIES SO FAR:

In our preliminary phase, we speak with experts from every corner of Europe – from Estonia to Portugal, from Ireland to Greece – through in-depth, semi-structured interviews. We aim to understand how immigration is perceived in each country, what fault lines exist, and how they are explained.
